Brotherhood of International
Mark Boat Operators

Founder and Membership Chairman Paul Ulibarri

Roger H Strube, MD

The Brotherhood of International Mark Boat Operators was formed to assure yacht racing enthusiasts the highest standards of course design and management. It is often assumed that the race officer sets these standards. However, for the enlightened, it is obvious that all quality racing is made possible by the professionalism of the Mark Boat Operator.

When the ancient Greeks plied the Aegean Sea, it was the BIMBO’s who set the courses. At the first America Cup, again it was the BIMBO’s. The examples are legion.

On the other hand who can forget the first attempt of race officers to set a course, the voyage of the Titanic.

To standardize and assure conformity to proper procedure, and course etiquette, the forerunner of the following Articles were formalized by the BIMBO’s of the 1996 Olympic games.

For those wishing to join the brotherhood, a Membership form is attached.

Brotherhood of International Mark Boat Operators

The Brotherhood of International Mark Boat Operators is dedicated to the premise that yacht racing is the true expression of man’s existence.

That the Brotherhood provides the stage for that expression.

That principal race officers are overrated.

That the Brotherhood of International Mark Boat Operators rule the waves.

*** Bow sprit, often referred to as the carved female form on the bow of a boat.

Initial contests were held at the H16 Worlds in Guadelupe and consisted of BIMBO’s sacrificing every evening trolling bars to find suitable mark boat bow spirits for the morning drive by contest. Certainly above and beyond the call of duty, but necessary for a proper event.

Polo and Golf shirts with the BIMBO LOGO embroidered over the left breast have been available for some time through Linda Evans or Miami, Florida. She has a home based embroidery busines and is able to customize shirts with any graphics you specify. Linda has recently applied her digitized BIMBO LOGO to a durable boat burgee. Shirts and these burgees may be ordered by contacting her at:
